The Deputy Manager will be responsible to the manager of our pre-school to help in the management of all staff settings.
Duties for our Deputy Manager role:
Assist in the effective daily management, including the deployment of staff and the safety, security, education and wellbeing of all children registration requirements and all statutory legislation.
Ensure that all required standards, ratios and conditions of registration are maintained at all times within the nursery
Organise and implement the nursery’s key person system.
Organise a programme of staff training to meet identified training needs and ensure all trainees receive appropriate mentoring, coaching and support.
Ensure that high standards of safety, security, hygiene, cleanliness and tidiness are maintained at all times and that the building and resources are treated with respect by children and staff.
Assist the manager in monitoring and controlling all costs within the centre, including the invoicing and payment of childcare fees.
Assist with the implementation of Fountain Montessori’s performance management policy
Assist with the organisation of regular staff meetings and appropriate training sessions, to ensure staff are kept up to date with the centre’s policies and procedures and Ofsted requirements.
As a Deputy Manager you will need:
At least two years’ proven experience of working in an early year’s care and education setting or at least two years’ other suitable experience
Level 5 early years education and childcare qualification or Montessori equivalent, and a commitment to obtaining further training and professional development.
Ability to prepare the setting for inspections to achieve and maintain at least a good-outstanding Ofsted rating.
Ability to ensure the Montessori philosophy is maintained and upheld by all staff through regular training, reflection and supervision.
Sound understanding of child development, and of children’s needs.
Ability to plan and implement a pre-school curriculum, taking into account the SEN Code of Practice, child protection procedures and equal opportunities considerations.
Demonstrable and detailed knowledge of current legislation relevant to the early years.
Ability to comply with the requirements placed on the setting by the EYFS and MEAB board.
Ability to work with parents and families to encourage their involvement.
Ability to effectively market the setting to maximise occupancy levels and fee income.
Ability to effectively lead and manage a team of adults, including conducting performance management processes
Demonstrate a commitment to continuously promoting a culture of safeguarding.
